Why we built Pekvio

Most finance apps ask you to hand over your bank login, then quietly monetise what they learn about you. We believe understanding your money shouldn't cost you your privacy. Pekvio exists to prove there's another way: you upload your own statements, your data does the heavy lifting, and every insight belongs to you, and only you.

See how it works

Who's behind Pekvio

Pekvio is built by Finstrive, a UK accounting, bookkeeping and payroll firm based in Milton Keynes. We spend our days inside real businesses' finances, and we kept noticing the same thing: the personal finance apps people relied on all wanted one thing first: a live connection to their bank, and quietly made money from what they learned.

We thought that was backwards. If we wouldn't hand a stranger ongoing access to our clients' accounts, why should anyone do it with their own?

So we built Pekvio on the opposite principle. You upload your own statements. Vio does the heavy lifting. Every insight belongs to you, and only you. No bank logins, no data brokers, no profile being built behind your back.

We're finance people who got tired of finance apps treating data as the product. Pekvio is what we wish existed.

Honest answers

The questions people actually ask before they trust us with their money.

“How can you help if you can't see my bank account?”

Easily because your statements tell the whole story. You upload them, Pekvio reads every transaction, and within seconds you get the same clarity a bank-linked app gives you, without ever handing over a login. You get the insight. We never get the keys.

“Why don't you just connect to my bank like everyone else?”

Because “everyone else” connecting to your bank is exactly the problem. Bank links mean a third party (usually Plaid) sitting between you and your money, holding credentials and harvesting data. We refuse to build on that. Upload-only isn't a limitation; it's the entire point. You stay in control.

“Do you sell or share my data?”

Never. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to “trusted partners”. Your financial life isn't our product. Your subscription is how we make money, and that's the only way — there is no second revenue stream to tempt us.

“Is my data actually safe with you?”

Yes. Everything is stored securely and tied only to your account. You can export everything any time, and delete everything any time instantly, no emails to support, no waiting. It's your data, so you hold the off switch.

“What makes Vio different from a generic chatbot?”

Vio only ever uses your numbers. Ask “Can I afford to overpay my mortgage?” and you get an answer grounded in your actual statements, not generic advice scraped from the internet. It's your private financial guide that knows your situation, built by accountants who do this for real businesses every day.

“Why don't you auto-sync with my bank like other apps?”

Because auto-sync keeps you passive and hands a third party a live window into your account. We built Pekvio the opposite way on purpose: you upload your statements, so nothing happens to your money data without you. That one deliberate step keeps you in control, keeps your data private, and — honestly — makes you better with money, because you're actually engaging with it rather than outsourcing it. You stay responsible for your finances. We just give you the sharpest tools to see them clearly.

“Why should I trust Pekvio over a big-name app?”

Because we're built by Finstrive, a UK accounting firm finance people who got tired of apps treating data as the product. The big names monetise your information. We monetise a fair, flat subscription and nothing else. Same clarity, none of the trade-offs.
